Hi all! I just bought me a 1995 Sonoma/S10 this morning that my buddy dropped off to me. Before I go on about the build, here is a pic of bae! Included is my G8 for those of you who know what I drive.

Now on about my build: I plan on working towards 400+Whp N/A with a 5.3L V8 swap

Motor: LM7 5.3L V8, LS6 intake, a mild Comp XR265HR cam, and the TEA 5.3L heads. Also some Kooks long tube headers will be installed (shorties won't clear the crossmember). This engine build should be making around 424 hp and 423 lb-ft of torque, then a nice tune on top of that.

Trans: Still deciding on a th350 or th400. The th400 sucks up power, and for less than 500whp N/A I think the 350 would be better, and easier on the pocket. No OD is needed because I will be mostly at the track and street events. No highway "cruising".

Suspension: Qa1 coilovers up front with some drop spindles, and new leaf springs in the rear with the rear Qa1 coilovers instead of calvert racing shocks. I will also be buying some Caltracs to help the leaf springs grip up, because traction WILL be an issue.

Rear End: Because the stock rear end can't handle the amount of power I will be putting down, I will be swapping a Ford 8.8 rear end with 4.11 gears from a '00-'02 Ford Explorer. Might need a new driveshaft also.

Exhaust: Coming from the Kooks headers will be 3" pipes to a X-pipe then back to some Dynomax race bullets and then to my current tips. Truck will sound AMAZING afterwards.

Wheel Setup: Some Nitto NT05's and Mickey Thompson Classic III's for the street and some Hoosier drag slicks and welds for the track.

Forced Induction/Nitrous: Still not sure which one of these I want to go with. First will probably be a Nitrous Express kit for the 5.3L. Only do some light jetting (150 shot). Borg Warner S478 turbo will come down the line in a couple of years.

I will be updating this thread regularly when parts get ordered/arrive. First up is the rear end and driveshaft so I can drive it on the side. The U-Joints are going bad and need replaced, so I am swapping the 8.8 rear end first. Already got a guy that can help me get a deal on the trans, and found a 5.3 with 90k miles for $800. Can't wait to get this thing started!

Thanks man, and I sure will. I will be constantly working on it and ordering parts for a while. Already found me an engine for $800 too.

Nice man, never really payed attention to S10's much lately until I thought about doing this build. They have a lot of potential and are underlooked imo.

Yeah my dad had a 1984 I believe. Such a beautiful truck, I've only seen it in pictures though because he sold in when my mom got pregnant, 24 years ago at this point. I not 100% sure thats what year it was but I know he sold it in 1990

Thanks guys. There is a small setback on the build. Only a few weeks though. Go check out my G8 thread if you are curious as to why.

Yes! I do know what I am doing. The world need more people like you Perfecito. Everyone in the Car Discussion thinks we know nothing about cars. I can point out who knows what about cars without trying.

Yes though, I will keep you all updated. I'm probably going to gather all the parts before doing anything. If I do the rear end first, i'll have to replace the u joints again when I put a new trans in. I need a new drive shaft too. I went to a shop and they basically said, with that much power, a drive shaft made for a 2.2L would have a hard time keeping up.
