I have had this error for a few days where I cannot connect to play store. I have cleared cache and data many times and have also edited the 'hosts' file in my 'etc' folder.
Any other ways to fix this error?

Have you tried to actually delete the hosts File? And reboot you phone? If you changed your password you shouldve gotten a notification to update your info.

I've tried everything but it just doesn't connect.
Just to let you know my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S4 and it is rooted.
Maybe it being rooted is why it's like this?

You can always reset your phone that has to fix it i doubt its the root unless it has access to the Hosts file and keeps editing it.

I actually had a problem with my phone and the hosts file had an extra line in it. It auto updated me outta my root and **** me over. Are you sure the host file isn't effecting it?

If you have twrp (Team Win Recovery Project) you can download a GoogleApps zip file if needed I'll leave a download just install it using TWRP and restart the device and it should be back to normal.

Did you completely delete the hosts file?

No I didn't delete the hosts file I edited to fix the previous errors. It fixed it but now it doesn't work again. I changed the hosts file back to what it was before and it still didn't work.
