Exactly. He even stated that he has relatively no experience using even C# and arguing over this with me is pointless in that regard.

It's like stating that since VB and C# both are CLI, that every library functions in both languages, not just one.

You can't know unless you have an extensive experience.

I've noticed he seems to have an extreme level of sarcasm as well.

Nah, I can do msot of C# just not experienced much with .NET (APIs and such, I can work with the language with reference to the documentation on the ms dev site though) and wouldn't ever say I could do it for a living. I do have experience in using the language. Same way I can work with python, but I sure ain't a python programmer (ha, guess why. hint: syntax).

VB .net and C# both compile into CIL. I don't know much or care for how it all works. I enjoy working with CIL in IDA and stuff and trying to reverse programs but I really do not care for how VB .net compiles. As far as I'm concerned, I don't need to know since I'll never need to use VB .net.

Any ways, good luck with your project.

In all honesty, just because you understand using documentation, doesn't mean you understand the language. But regardless, everyone has a favorite language. VB happens to be mine which to be honest, is mainly because I have 8 years of experience in it.

There are other languages I like, but just prefer VB due to familiarity. I can create applications without documentation typically and I find that to be more productive then reading how to do the equivalent in another language.

Well being someone who does several languages that are incredibly similar (C sharp is based on them) such as Java, C++ and PHP (and JS but that's more like jQuery lib experience for websites rather than being a hardcore nodejs or webgl genius) it makes it incredibly easy for me to use C with documentation. When I say documentation, I mean lib documentation like if I wanted to write a basic TCP client, I could reference the ms site and learn the API for it. And then once I've learned enough C# APIs for doing a wide variety of stuff, I'd consider myself a C# programmer.

I'm not a Windows user but if I was, I'd definitely be doing C#.

C# borrows from Java and is loosely based on C++. It was designed mainly to be close to C++ to try and create a more modern, similar language with less flaws.

If that worked is subjective. But however, it's easier to state that it's syntax is similar.

This also doesn't mean it's just reading a bit, and you create a whole program.

Realistically, the differences are quite clear.

Honestly, just because two languages are similar, doesn't mean you can automatically jump between the two with just some documentation.

Oh, I can. I can jump from Java/C++ to C# w/ API documentation easily. It's not hard.

Every reply you make literally re-iterates things I've already said. The syntax is literally so similar that I can write you Java code and you would only be able to tell it was Java due to the method naming conventions.

I never claimed to be a pro C# guy, as I said: I'm not a windows user, lol. I can work with C# though - I wouldn't do it full time but if I needed to do something in C#, you can bet your ass I'd get it done with API reference from the MS site for classes that I've not used in C# before.

You keep stating things as if you think I don't know these things. I know the difference between Java and C#, lol. I do some JVM bytecode manipulation in my spare time and have done similar things with CIL.

tl;dr - I'm wondering if you do any languages other than VB since it seems you don't understand how easy it can be to work with C# with literally no experience (I do have some experience actually) if you've got a strong knowledge of Java and C++ behind you along with strong OOP abilities. Not hard at all. I recommend you ditch VB.

Bashful, if you'd like to discuss it with me then please don't hinder to add me on skype: obscurecoding
since replying on here for such an unrelated matter is irrelevant to the thread.

Nice suggestion, but this does that.

Yeah that's my point, this program does nothing special. There is almost no point in downloading a program, when you can get the same outcome from a simple cmd command.

I don't know programming/coding at all

So can someone explain why you would need a folder creator?

Reading through the previous posts, I realized I never actually EXPLAINED why this was made.

I referenced the context for which it was proposed and subsequently done, and that I wanted to fish it quickly.

ObscureCoder posted on the thread that this was proposed in.

3 AM in the morning. I was bored.

But realistically, the only reason I'm actually posting this up is if you THINK it's useful for you, download it.

If you want to learn how to do it, check out the source.

I even specifically stated, quite clearly may I add, that this wasn't a serious development endeavor on my part. To be quite honest, I'm flat out of ideas to even put something serious into development. I also just don't have the time.

So, since I'm on my computer and can actually type, let's be clear.
-This is by no means an actual serious in development, on going application.

-The reason feature suggestions are requested are for source purposes and so whoever will use it, has a couple extra features.

-I never stated this WAS useful, nor that you couldn't do this yourself.

-An to be quite honest, usefulness is pretty subjective. Some people use modding applications because they aren't certain of how to modify values themselves.

Modding applications are not useful to experienced modders, but are useful to others.

There are plenty of applications, big and small, that do nothing but make a long or short monotonous task, less repetitive and automatic. But, they are useful to an audience, which is why there is an active development surrounding the application.

So, while this may not be useful to you or me, that computer illiterate user may find this easier.

Hello

I am a Cat

Thought i would put myself among you Pigeons

ObscureCoder perhaps you should read my sticky Forums/t=4961623/beginners-guide-...mming.html

The Conclusion section may be quite relevant.

Programming languages are a lot to do with preference, I have programmed in Visual Basic for around 18 Years, in a commercial environment. So please don't make assumptions that any language is "bad", as anything that is bad, will not survive such a harsh IT world.

I can switch between any language that i need to achieve a particular job, but if VB fits, i use it.

Bashful, nice to see you actually putting the effort in the section, I have been absent for a while, but glad to see the section has not died off completely.

If you wanted to use .NET then why use Visual Basic when the better alternative of C# exists. The culture that surrounds Visual Basic makes it an embarrassment.

He seems to think his opinions are facts.

Regardless, this forum is a shell of its former self. It means much better when I joined in 2009, now people barely do a anything programming related. Try to do my part though.

Nah, you just claim to be an experienced, well-revised programmer yet you're actually just a VB retard.

Bashful is a skilled programmer that has kept this section alive. He is very knowledgeable in programming. You on the other hand have shown nothing that shows you know programming. Anyone can spout out general knowledge about programming and look like an arrogant ****, like you do.

If Bashful wants you use VB, then great, he can.
If you want to pole ride C#, great, **** off and mind your own.

You do nothing but cause issues in this section. People look for help here not criticism. If you had this extensive knowledge of programming languages, which you claim to, then you would be a bit more helpful to people. Else wise you just look like an idiot that knows nothing.
Grow up and become a useful member of the forums, or do everyone a service and leave.
