My budget is 2500 for just the car.
I try find cars with miles lower than 70,000 miles on them and if they're cheap to insure.

Couldn't agree more. I try to avoid anything French, Italian, Ford or Vauxhall. There's nothing really wrong with Ford, that's just my personal preference. Anything from VW, Audi, Seat or Japan is going to be pretty much good to go though. Golf is a viable option, as is a Lupo/Arosa. Polo is also a viable option. Seat Ibiza or Leon would do you well. If you can find a nice Suzuki Swift, that'd be a great first car.

There is nothing wrong with french cars, they just have a bad reputtion. Try get a low litre car, and one that isnt dubbed as a "boy racer", as they have high crash rates so the insurance is through the roof.
I would avoide italian cars, they like to burn a hole in your pocket.
Get a micra, best first car i ever had. Not i drive a decked out fiesta Metal
