The chicken came first. GOD made the chicken along with all the other living things on Earth.

Logical Answer
The egg came first. This is because what according to the theory of evolution, there would have been an animal whose genetic makeup was very close to that of the modern chicken. It would have then produced an offspring with a slight genetic abnormality, which would result in the chicken that we know today.
Other Possibility
The chicken came first. This would mean that either the modern chicken spawned into existence or was born without being in an egg. Which if the latter was the case, could it still be considered a "chicken"? Or would it have a different classification?

This has been such an annoying ongoing thing since... well forever and it isn't necessarily true the chicken came first because the egg contains a mutation of that species which we call something else, for this example we will use a duck because well it's the first other egg laying awesome creature i could think of. imagine a world without chickens. the duck lays it's eggs, as the climate changes over millions of years the so called egg that is being layed has been mutating to suit its environment, this causes dramatic change over time and eventually the duck egg becomes a chicken, the first chicken and those mutations continue.
i know what your thinking, but a mutated CHICKEN would have to have laid the egg but that's not true because that creature would not be to human knowledge 'a chicken' it would instead have another name.
so the answer... is the egg but not from the same species, from a more primeval species.
