My grandpa smoked his entire life. I was about 12 years old when my mom told him, 'If you ever wanna to see your grandchild graduate, you have to quit indefinitely. Tears rolled down eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He quit smoking up pronto. About four years later he passed away from lung cancer. It was gosh darn devastating and it crushed me. My mom strictly forbid smoking and left me with this warning- 'Don't you ever put a cigarette in your mouth. Please don't put your family through what your Grandpa had." I accepted. At 28, I have never touched a smoke. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because the lounge section gave me cancer anyways.

The reason that I have never smoked is because Im an athlete and smoking could jeopardize my chances of making it big, and because its just stupid.
Who wants to voluntarily raise their chances of getting cancer?

I run on a very regular basis, and smoking would only take away the progression I have made over the last 4 years, so I tend to stay away from smokers in general.

I smoke and it's retarded af. I did it back in the day to "be cool" and let me tell you, yellowing of the teeth, spending 5 bucks a week at least and smelling like stoges is NOT cool. I'm currently taking nicotine gum and it's really helping. I rarely smoke now honestly but sometimes when I hangout with my buds I tend to light one up.

I don't understand why people use these substances when they know it kills them.
