big-red-riding-hood wrote I just read every post here and I really don't understand it. It seams like most of the people who don't hunt claim that they "don't like to hurt animals". Get over it, the same process is used when you pick up a steak or some hamburger at the grocery store. When you hunt you know that what you are eating is healthy instead of having half meat and half genetically modified crap. I personally hunt because it costs 60 bucks for a tag and if we get a deer (only got skunked 1 year out of 5) you get about 300+ worth of meat you don't have to buy.you are absolutely right they act like buying a steak is Ok but they hate hunters and u get a better deal when hunting and it tastes so much better and I heard that they put radiation in the meat to keep it fresh and on the shelves longer
For those of you who do eat meat but don't go hunting because you don't like to hurt animals, please go work on a farm for a week and tell me the meat you buy at the store didn't come from a hurting animal. Also if you know how to shoot a gun or are a proper sportsman, you will not hurt the animal. They generally don't know what is going on. They may be alive for 3 seconds or so when you shoot them before they die.

I do not hunt because I do not have the patience to sit in the forest and wait for things to happen. I have been before, but do not do it often as it bores the hell out of me.

I've never sat and waited before, I am always moving. It generally starts with driving around until you see one, park the truck and start stalking the deer. I don't think I have ever killed the first deer I started stalking, I always see one either bigger, or closer that I kill haha.

Hunters are able to tailor their kills to their own morality.
People who don't hunt are not able to do this other than by protesting the abuse of animals on farms, which most people do unsuccessfully.
People who refuse to hunt for this reason are analogous with conscientious objectors in war.
They refuse to give death a leg up to his steed and will protest his methods, but will still reap the benefits of a war won by others so those who died will not have died for nothing.
I think protest is the main point there though. If they don't protest the methods used by farms to dispatch animals, they are being entirely and utterly hypocritical in their slander of hunters.
