I have charter which has a starting plan of 60Mbps down. I don't get that, or even half of that. Basically iv'e been getting ripped off for as long as they switched from 30Mbps down to 60Mbps down. I've contacted them and they said there is nothing they can do because i'm on the edge of their service network even though my friend a few hundred yards down the road and FURTHER away from the Charter HQ gets his 60Mbps. I was wondering if upgrading my rental SURFboard SB6121 Modem with a new SURFboard SB6141 or even a SURFboard SB6183 could boost my speeds.

Its got nothing to do with your moderm. U want more upload and download speed then call your isp and get your credit card out.

How much are you paying?
First call and see if somethings wrong and they can update you and your speed will increase a lot!

If nothing major happens you'll have to start paying more.

I just re read your post and it you said you upgraded, Go read through your package. Most say "up to" 60mbps. It really depends on your location.

You need to upgrade your modem, i mean it's fine but like you can get so much better for the same price.

Upgrading the moderm will make no difference. His moderm supports upto 172mbps. If his isp only gives him 18mbps, 18mbps is all he will get. It does not matter if his moderm supported 1gbps, Hes still only going to get 18mbps. Its common sense.
