Zerg wrote People in my high school complain about this all the time, they want $15 an hour to bag groceries at a grocery store. Are you serious?? People who work all day at a hospital make about that and they have to support their kids, I think it's ridiculous and I hope they get their reality check soon.

i agree completely with you man

First off, this comment really ticked me off, That stereotype couldn't be further from the truth, I currently work as a supervisor in a Fast food restaurant(KFC), did I do awful at school? No, I'm currently Studying Computer Sciences in College, why do I work for KFC? because it's the only place that will hire a Student with no prior work experience, not because I did "awful at school" or have no skills.

If you think they stand around all day and do "basically nothing" you clearly haven't ever worked in fast food/catering, they do a whole lot more than nothing, more often than not, there under staffed, under equipped & expected to run more than 2-3 stations at once & get verbally abused all day by customers who have no idea how fast food works & think the employee decides the price of a meal, or it's our fault if a delivery doesn't come through & we can't serve a certain product.

Don't get me wrong, they are in no way entitled to $15+ an hour, as a supervisor Im currently on 5.39/hr, working 50hr weeks.

Make sure you know what you're talking about before you go ranting about stereotypes you read on Facebook.

Hmm, not really.

Have you worked at Mc Donald's? Do you know what it involves? I can tell you now, it involves more than just flipping burgers.

For people who dint have a great start to their career, Maccy D's and other places provide temporary employment for those who need to find their feet in their life.

They do get paid crap, I agree but wanting more is never a bad thing. Say if someone needed more money to get on with their life.

Im sitting here, as an IT Technician earning £2.68 an hour [Apprentice].I dont do nothing. Maccy D's employees dont do nothing. If they did, they wouldn't be employed.

People wanting more money is perfectly natural.

It's understandable why employees of fast-food places would want more money and I agree (I used to work at Sonics). But the way they want to get that raise is what I disagree with.

You don't need the government to bully/force the business into paying you what you want. Why not start a strike demanding more pay and better working conditions. Why not tell local people about it and tell them to stop going there to support your cause. Why not ask for a raise and tell them why you need it. Why not go above and beyond to get noticed and get that raise. No one is forcing them to work at that place so the government is not needed.

I wanted to punch my co-workers every time I heard "Sonics is violating my basic rights" and "Obama needs to raise my minimum wage".

Minimum skill = Minimum wage.

I don't know why someone would think minimum wage jobs were ever meant to be lived off of.
I don't think anyone considers their minimum wage job to be their career.

Here in New York the minimum wage is $8.75 an hour and is going up to $10 on January 1st of 2016, and the room for expansion at Mcdonalds isnt hard, i have my first job there and became manager within a year and a half, and yes people consider that Mcdoanlds job is a joke, but its a job, at least they arnt mooching off of the government like most rejects, and i used to make an easy 25,000 a year as manager and the Store manager used to make killer, around $60,000 a year and he didnt even do anything, but i do think $15 is pretty overboard as i dont wanna pay $20 for a ten piece nugget

I understand that minimum wage may be too low for some people, however I do not think that people should "live on minimum wage"

I think it needs to be a way to get on your feet..

yes its hard to afford a car, appartment, and food for your family when you only make 9 an hour, but that should motivate you to want a better job..

if we raise their wage then everything increases and when that happens they will want it higher.

If people are thinking that they are supposed to live off minimum wage, then they are clearly in the wrong frame of mind. Minimum wage is mainly there to help young workers earn a bit of money without having qualifications. Demanding more money is not going to change anything, if people complain that they need more money for minimum skill jobs then they need a new job.
