My mic isn't working. It's plugged into the controller and doesn't even make the noise when I turn the volume up or down. The mute button light also doesn't work. can someone please help me

what you have to do is hold down the power button on the console until it shuts off this is whats called a hard reset
this is the most common problem with xbox one and wont be fixed until the new dashboard update with windows 10 comes into play

try it on another controller if that doesnt work its the mic if it does its the port on the controller

If you've tried resetting the Xbox (hard reset), unlpugging and letting it sit for 10-15 seconds, try using another controller.

If it's not working on the other controller, it may be the microphone. The wiring for these headsets is very fragile unfortunately.
