I am looking to upgrade my PC to make it more powerful so it can handle more demanding games. My specs are listed on this link. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Download Speccy and post a screenshot. We're also going to need to know the make and model of both your PSU, and your case. We're also going to need an upgrade budget and currency to work with, as well as know what it is you want to achieve with an upgrade?

My budget is around $300 to $350 CAD. I am looking to just upgrade my computer so that it'll run Minecraft better than it does right now. because it doesn't run it very well. I would want to play with friends online smoothly.

Your CPU and motherboard are as old as the hills. You're gonna need to upgrade those for a start.

With your budget, there's a few options you could go with:

For AMD;
- 8320 and a 970A chipset mootherboard (Performance)
OR
- 6300 and a Gigabyte GA 78LMT USB3 (budget)

For Intel;
- i5 4460 with a B85M motherboard (this'd be the best option)
OR
- i3 4160 with a B85M motherboard (budget)

With either one of those CPU/motherboard combo's you'd need to get some DDR3 RAM as well. 8GB DDR3 RAM will run you about 60-70$ (I think, not too familiar with CAD)

If you have any money left over I'd go for an SSD to speed things up a bit. GPU upgrade would be good at a later date when you have the cash monies, if you're looking to play more demanding games than minecraft.

Add another 4GB RAM when you can. If you can go $15 over your $350 budget, you can get 2X4GB RAM right now. Add an SSD once you've added 4GB RAM. P.S, it's 2015, get a 1080p panel fam. Then you can focus on a GPU upgrade.
