You have to pay because they want to make money and that's a good way of doing so and if it was free you'd get people changing there name every 2 seconds which doesn't bother me but it is quite stupid and they would make no extra money besides all this it's only a Gamertag so I don't see why people just don't find a good one they like and stick with it the only reason I'd change mine is to join a clan or whatever and I've had this GT I have now for years.
