hello, im 20 years old, and can drive, i cant afford a car and insurance, but wondering if any one knows how much it would be to insure myself on my farthers car, its a tiny car 1.2 , hes been drivin over 35 years....


i tried to search online but it only quotes me for my own car...

any ideas? thanks

would your insurance be on your own name or under your fathers?

Best thing to do is just get your Dad to phone up and query it, it shouldn't cost more than £200 to be insured on his car.
Don't think you can really find out on other insurance sites as it has to be your Dads.

Should call insurance companies and ask for a quote. Since it is an older car it could be quite high.

I think you have to be 25 or over to do this or be driving for more than 3 years in the uk.

It would only be cheap if you're a named driver on the car and your parent as the main.

I did exactly that and just used the car as my own, my mom never drove it and the insurance company were non the wiser.

The only problem is that if you were crash for example, it'd go under your parents name and most likely increase your insurance for when you finally got a car of your own

I'm pretty sure this is illegal, you can't be driving under someone else's insurance and being the primary driver, if you're under the secondary insurance driver.

and you can do it straight away my friend drives his mums i would of asked him but i cant get in touch...

Like I said, just get him to ring up, there's no online form or any other way.
