Is there a piece of hardware I can make my laptop like a wireless router as my flat next year cant get WiFi?

the building I move into next year is private student housing and because they dont a WiFi system that reaches all of the flats they only do wired internet but I was wondering if there is something I can buy that allows me to use my laptop as a wireless router basically

If they have wired connections, get a splitter and get a WiFi extender.
Works wonders in my house, runs off a single Ethernet cable.

Just buy a wireless router, you can get them for pretty cheap

no such thing as making a laptop work and if they use wired get a spliter and wifi extender

If you're connected through Ethernet, try this out.

It pretty much lets your laptop act as a virtual wireless hotspot and share it's internet with devices connected to it. I used to use a lot whenever my iPod's MAC address got blacklisted on networks.
Though it does cost money, I'm sure you can get it for free if you look around... ;)

Thanks for the answers guys, the people who own the building and control the internet and such are a bit crap and have said that if you plug in a wireless router they will cut you off. so hopefully one of the other solutions will work.
