What I suggested was for a mix of looks and performance. It'll handle 1080p well and will support an upgrade to even a 390(x) should you choose to do so once they're released. You could do this;

You get the 970 and 8GB RAM but you'll want to add an SSD asap.
If it were me, I'd go with my first suggestion and save for a GPU upgrade to something a little higher end, but it depends on your income and requirements really. If you're not going to be able to afford a GPU upgrade, then you would be better off with a higher end GPU to start with. Oh, and keep in mind that you could get an R9 290 for £55 less than the 970, so you could do that and still fit a nice SSD within budget if you wanted. Like this;
