Have a certain color you may prefer?

A nice ultrawide monitor would be useful for editing and productivity IMHO, but you;d be looking at a 2560x1080 ultrawide, as opposed to a 3440x1440. A 1440p panel would be nice for gaming, if you have the hardware to run it properly. No point getting a 1440p panel if you're going to be gaming at low settings on it. If you can manage it, this might be a good shout;

Can turn the 1440p panel 90* so that it's taller, which might be useful? Ultrawide for editing and what not where extended view could help. Use the 1440p panel for gaming and just turn the ultrawide off whilst your gaming, or use it as a backup, if you need to pause the game and check something without closing the game window.

Although, it depends on your hardware so that'd be useful to know. These monitors wouldn't be too difficult to run whilst not gaming, and gaming on the 1440p panel would be fine, as long as you have a decent card.

Honestly, it doesn't matter what brand as long as it's 1080p minimum (since your budget is high for only a monitor you could get a 1440p)


And it needs to be an IPS panel since you're doing colour work (graphics and video editing). IPS has better colour reproduction than a TN panel with better viewing angels as well.

I'd recommend my personal monitor if you choose to go with 1440p (depending on your hardware gaming can be messy in terms of FPS)

Thanks for the input sanctyy! I updated my post with specs if that helps, I don't think running games will be an issue.

Yeah I have been looking into IPS displays, but there are none that are 144hz refresh rate yet , maybe later this year. Again gaming is more important to me than video editing / gfx work, however I could wait for the ips 1440p 144hz monitors to come out later this year.

Why not a monitor like this? It is the one i am considering, its 144Hz refresh.

because it's terrible $340 for a 1080p TN panel? No thanks.

OP-Don't make a big fuss about 144Hz panels. You could go with what I suggested, the ultrawide would be good for productivity and the 1440p panel will swivel to portrait. A single 970 will handle 1440p well as well, but you won't be maxing it out with 60+FPS so it doesn't make a difference if it's only a 60Hz panel.

Yeah I realize 144hz isn't the end all be all, but I have used 120+hz panels before and I can certainly tell the difference. That 144hz ips 1440p panel looks nice, I might look into that, if not I will probably buy that benQ you suggested.

If you did save up to $800 you could get your self a second 970 and nice 4k monitor.
