Hey there,
So the reason why I've created this thread is because I'm currently in the process of buying my PC. My PC is mainly for gaming but will also do the occasional video editing (but rarely). I know which build I want, but I've been looking at the i7 4790Ks and they are not too much different to the i5 4690K in price (70 GBP).
The build that it would be going in would be:
- i5 4690K / i7 4790K CPU
- MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition Motherboard
- 16 GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 Memory
- EVGA GTX 970 FTW Edition GPU
- 750W EVGA SuperNOVA G2 PSU
- Corsair Hydro H110i GT Cooler
- Fractal Define R5 Case
All in all, for 70 GBP/107 USD would it be worth the upgrade?
Let me know what you guys think!
Note: I will not be gaming in 4K, and I will also try to avoid OC'ing.

Well if you're not going to overclock why are you buying a unlocked CPU? you would be better off getting a xeon 1230v3 it's just a locked i7 for way less of a price.

Yeah, if you're not overclocking, an unlocked CPU is a waste. Grab a 4460 and be done with it. The extra threads with a Xeon would be useful for rendering but if you're rarely going to be rendering, it'd be wasted money IMHO.
