Hey guys,

So that time has come, where i think building a gaming PC is needed. I haven't looked at making one myself yet, but it thought I'd get a few pointers from here to see if anyone could give me advice on what to do and what to avoid. Also feel free to build one and comment it, I'd be happy to see what people can come up with.

Games i mainly play are CS:GO and GMOD and from time to time Dead Island.

Thanks.

Not the best motherboard nor case i know but managed to squeeze a GTX 970 in, if you can up your budget a little more invest into a better mobo and case.

Add another 4GB of ram when you can.

Will easily max out the above games and will get the benefit of the SSD, RAM and nicer case.

I wouldn't be putting a poo mobo, meh PSU and lack of RAM in a rig, just to get a 970 within budget. It's not worth it.

Pretty much smack bang in the middle of the other two suggestion, performance wise but has a much nicer case, better mobo(not that it matters, but still). The SSD is enough for your OS and maybe a small game or two. HDD for mass storage. Can upgrade to a Broadwell CPU without motherboard swap. i3 will perform similar to an i5 for gaming anyway. You can upgrade to 4690k, 4790k or unlocked Broadwell CPU and overclock if you want.

Then go with dcfc's build. Try to find an extra £20 so you can get 8gb of ram or get a a r9 290 instead and 8gb of ram and maybe a 60gb ssd.

Tad over budget and no SSD. The i5 won't make a huge difference over the i3 tbh.
