The 280x is on sale for less than the 960 and out performs it by quite a bit.

Can you explain to me what a pcie is

PCI-E is an expansion slot on your motherboard. You can plug in additional hardware to get better functionality such as a GPU, an ethernet card, a sound card, etc.

okay, i get you now, but will the motherboard physically be able to hold it and allow it to perform to it's potential?

This is the pci-e lane on your motherboard, its where you will slot the gpu. It will perform fine. Unless you wanna spend an extra £100 on a new motherboard to gain 1-5fps its pointless.
