[ Register or Signin to view external links. ] Hi i got a new hp compaq, the one thats smaller, like a tower cut in half. anyways i just bought it yesterday for 20$, never used, got it on a high school freshmen scholarship. from my couisin. its slow as hell. i wanted to know a few programs to tune it up or something> when i first got it, it beeped 5 times and i took a memory thing out and it started up. i havent put it in back yet. i cant update the vista because the last update was 2012, and i have to renew the program which i dont have money for. this is the first computer ive ever had, &Im only 16 but im very interested in learning.

Also im getting a ps3 this thursday and im interested in anything about modding. im a long time TTG user so of course. anything helps! i appreciate it.

Essentials for this computer would obviously be getting the monitor to fit this comps resolution. Its probably not 1920x1080 so don't change settings for resolution if you want it to crash. Also some necessities for this PC may revolve around security(Malware bytes), system enhancers (plug in USB and dedicate it to ram). If your using this for school work it would be fine. Gaming wouldn't do.. well unless you upgrade parts but doesn't apply to your situation. Also make sure its free of dust or it may start crashing or over heating.

How loud was the Beeps ? could be the hard drive..

Has its been Factory Reset. before you bought it ?
if not
Download, Avast anti-virus *you can get free versions (don't use none of them AVG crap)

Get IobitUninstaller and uninstal some crap installed on it should help speed it up a little

You could upgrade parts like Ram its probably only got like a Gig (512x2) getting some ram will also help speed it up..

If you want Windows 7 "Professional" etc.. i can get you around using product key (RemoveWAT)

(I Can Help you with the ~PS3 Stuff PM me link you some stuff to download)

PS3 Stuff - What games .. and have you already got PS3 or buying one

Delete un-inportant documents, pictures, music to free up space on the Hard drive too..

Edit:
i took a memory thing out and it started up

what Memory thing ? was it Green, little back chips on it? if so put it back in that the Ram (that would be why its going slow)
