Well, anyone? It bugs the hell out of me, I feel like it makes what we do seem trashy, and **** annoying. When I hear or see "GFX" I immediately assume it's a 12 year old using gimp.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but the whole abbreviation annoys the **** out of me.

FX stands for effects.
G stands for graphics.
Also in programming I'm pretty sure your computer abbreviates the graphics card as GFX card.
just like VFX or SFX

I was unaware of the term Graphics Effects.

I dislike the term, for myself and other experienced designers.
However there is a place for it among the amateurs.

All the experienced designers I know use it as a joke or insult.

I did some research
and most places were saying "Graphic Effects"

But I came across a few places that said it means "Global Effects"

This makes more since, pretty much anything you see on your computer is a graphic.
and is most likely processed by your graphics card.
So your graphics card runs all the global effects.

Here is a screenshot out of my task manager.
igfx = Intel global effects, or Intel graphic effects.
and it is referring to how much memory is being used by my graphics card.

It's an amateur thing imo.
