Personally, I'd grab a reference cooler if it was my only/best/cheapest option, but reference 980Ti's don't have backplates, which is shit. The 980Ti is safe until like 99*c anyway, so you'll be fine and as long as your airflow in your case is aight, you'll be fine.


I know this sounds stupid but what should I do then? The EVGA one arrives 12th June so maybe that would be a better choice instead of the MSI one?

Just get whichever you can afford, and prefer.

Also, are you sure the 500W power supply will be enough power for the GPU? Or should I go to 600? Or is that not necessary?
