What i think you want to know is:
Skins do nothing to weapons just makes it look good so they are in a way pointless!
Getting a knife in a case is so good because you spend £1.69 on a key and can get a knife thas worth £100

You have contradicted yourself hugely.
Spending money on skins that you'll keep is worth it as you will keep them and you bought them because you like them.
Spending money on cases to get a knife will cost you much more than £100, so it is pointless unless you accept that the odds are tiny and you just open cases for fun.
