Currently, many people (Including me) are having issues trying to SLI different brand 970, 980, and 980Ti cards.

There is no official response from nvidia, and all the other brands say that "They cannot guarantee that you will be able to SLI our cards with other cards."

I bought a 970 Strix, and my brother sold me his ACX 970 very cheap, however, I cannot SLI them.

On the nvidia forums there are lots of posts about people having issues trying to SLI even within the same brand (Mainly EVGA has this issue)

Be careful with what you buy, make sure to check that you're ready for SLI, and do a little googling to make sure there are no issues.

For those wondering, there is a patch. It does work, I wont link it but it is called
DifferentSLIAuto 1.3
It will come up as a false-positive.

It is annoying to uninstall, and it will put you into the Windows Test Enviroment which is easy to get out of.

This is mainly due to different PCB Designs and different memory chips from what I've herd.

The issue is that even with the same chip, and amount of VRAM this is still happening.

The design of the PCB doesn't matter as long as it's the same chip. (Nvidia's guide to SLI says that)
