What are the main benefits of an SSD, will it effect performance in game such as the FPS?

If anything get a small one for OS and use a big hdd for storage if money is a issue. If you could afford it get a big ssd.

An SSD (Solid State Drive) is a storage device that has no moving parts like a HDD does (which uses magnetic storage) and uses minuscule microchips to store data electronically. This allows data to be read and written to it much faster which will improve your boot times and load times of things that you store on the SSD.

You should have your os and main games on your ssd and bulk files and other programs on your hdd.

Faster storage won't necessarily improve FPS, but in some cases where a lot of game files are being loaded without a loading screen, it can prevent FPS drops. It significantly improves all load times and responsiveness in the OS.
