Or instead of sacrificing elsewhere to get a 970, just get this;

The 970 is a great card but at 1080p, I'd much rather a good mobo, nice looking rig and decent SSD with a 280(which will still handle 1080p fine), than sacrificing all that for a card that's going to be under-performing at 1080p.
Z97 board because I wanted to give you an ATX board, mATX will look sort of funny in Define S, but you can save $5-$10, get the same features on an mATX board. The motherboard supports an upgrade to a 4690k, 4790k, 5675c, or 5775c and you can overclock. You can add another 280 in XFire at any point. You'll probably be able to XFire the 280 with a 380 or something tbh.
