I've had my Xbox on for about 9 hours now and I'm about to sleep but I was wondering if it would be safe to leave it on through the night to afk on a game would this be okay or would it overheat or catch fire or something ?

I would not leave the Xbox One on for this long! It has already been on for ages. Doubt it will catch fire, but it may over heat which might cause problems in the long run. Turn it off while its not in use.

EDIT:

If you have not changed the settings, the console will shut of automatically after one hour of inactivity.

Well I know people who kept their 360 on for a week straight, and the XOne was designed to be better so I think it'll be fine as long as it's not in a bad spot. After reading this it just shuts off after it overheats.
