Separate account to your standard bank account.
Set a target or goal with an amount you want to save.
Make the target a little over what you need to save for, that way you can reward yourself once you hit the target.
I have the same problem, money just burns a hole in my pocket. :/

I use to give what I earned to my mum.. and kept how ever much I needed.
Just told her to hang on to it or put it into a account, and used it when I needed to.
That helped me.

I umpire and it is great money.
It actually isn't that hard to save money. You don't always have to spend money. A rule of thumb when buying something is ask yourself "This is $100, will I use it at least 100 times?" And if not, then don't buy it.

I've always saved my money so I have had very little problems. I haven't worked much this year (made less than 2k), but I had 3k I was able to lend out (1500 to my brother and 1520 to my parents), and I still have 2k.
I started out splitting each pay check into 3 separate stacks. the first stack is one that I don't spend unless I absolutely have to (or lend it out to family). The second is what I consider my bank. It is there if I need it but I don't like to spend it. Once my bank gets up to 750 dollars, 500 of it goes into the pile I don't spend. The last one is what is in my wallet. Once I get 500 in my wallet, 250 goes in the bank.
I also played around with the idea of investing it (not in stock markets). I bought some silver, not for the thought that it will increase in price and make me rich, but because it is a solid asset that I can't walk into walmart and buy my Xbox with. I bought silver because it is pretty cheap right now and I only spent 10% of what I made this year on it so it either goes up and I wish I would have risked it all or it will become nothing and I will have some weights to go fishing with.

It's gonna sound kind of cheesy, but they have some pretty cool iPhone apps that I've seen that help manage money. I don't really know any in particular but if you go on the "Featured" section I always see some on there. Just a thought

Just do this every pay check put 100$ away for saving, Don't spend money on stupid things spend it on stuff you actually need food, after what ever is left and when you get your new check put 100$ into savings and the left over money. Great way to save money I did it saved around 1000$
