If you haven't heard the news yet, well here is the link to the news [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

My questions are:

1. I am wanting to install Windows 10 Preview on my main gaming computer to see if I like it. Would I run into any issues by doing this such as gaming issues?

2. When I install Windows 10 Preview how will I know which version I will get, such as Home or Pro?
Windows Insiders running the Windows 10 Insider Preview (Home and Pro editions) with their registered MSA connected to their PC will receive the final release build of Windows 10 starting on July 29th."

3. Will there be any issues coming from an illegitimate version of Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 Technical Preview?

4. Also I am using Windows 7 Ultimate, will I need to do a clean install or can I keep my programs and downloaded game? I would prefer to keep everything.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Probably but not guaranteed. You will get the occiansonal issue like driver crashes and clashes which might cause bluescreens now and again. Again, not guaranteed.

Im on the Pro version of the preview. Not sure If I got the choice to have it or not.

Nope

If your going onto the Tech Preview, you should do a clean install. You can move everything to a external hard drive and move it back over.

Alright thanks Xiggy! To my knowledge everyone who has Windows 10 Pro or Home Preview will receive the full version of Windows 10 on July 29th correct? Also I do not have a big enough external drive to backup my files, so I will probably just do a fresh install then reinstall everything. Also have you had any driver issues such as Nvidia or had any problems with any of your games?

Yes, we should get it on the 29th but you should double check. I've not looked into it that much but thats what I've heard floating around on the internet.

I've had driver clashes which have caused me to bluescreen when I alt + tab out of a game. Its not all the time and has only happened a couple of times.

Alright thanks for your help, should I do the Windows update to Windows 10 Preview or install it from a USB?

I was using the Win10 preview on my laptop from the very beginning but I installed Win8.1 Pro on my desktop. Just the other day, I updated to the Win10 preview again so it's easier for me to just get the full version. You don't have to do a clean install. Check Microsoft's site, they should have an update for you that you can download, and it'll update your system to Win10 and keep everything. Fresh install would probably be a better idea, but re-installing drivers is a pain in the tits.

I have both the ISO and I downloaded the Update so I don't have to have to use my usb to install Win10 I just have to accept the update, but I will put the Win10 iso on my USB just incase and I will probably just keep all my files and see how it goes, because I almost have a full terabyte of stuff I would rather not have to install again. Have you had any issues with Win10 Preview? And did you do a clean install from 8.1 to the preview?

I had a few bugs with the preview on my laptop, once or twice, but on older builds. I only updated from 8.1 to Win10 preview the other day so no issues yet. My system is still fairly neat, not cluttered so I didn't want to bother with a fresh install, I just updated to Win10 and kept everything installed.

Alright, thanks for your help Sanctyy! One last question then I am done. I have some programs that I downloaded for Windows 7 like geforce experience and nvidia drivers and what not. Will those files be lost or will it keep them? If it keeps them will it cause any issues?

Depends. If you do a fresh install, you lose everything. You'll have to re-install. If you just update, like I did, you'll keep all of that stuff. You might be prompted to update GeForce Experience, I think I was when I launched it after updating to Win10 from Win8.1
