I thought stuff like this was only doable through jailbreaking or whatever?

It sure is

However many people cant jailbreak due to contracts/simply don't want to.

Also many people who do this sort of thing can only provide temporary cash and doughnuts on their device.

whereas i actually add them to the account not just the device
