Hey guys, so I know I made a thread earlier kind of similar to this, but this is a little different. So I've been trying and trying for the past 3 days to set up a VPN and get it working with my retail Xbox 360, but I can NOT get it to work. I've tried just about every method out there, and I can connect to Xbox Live and everything fine when I share the connection from my computer, but once I turn on the VPN it never works.

Here's what I've tried so far:
Setting up a VPN like CyberGhost or proXPN which masks my IP and then sharing the connection from the Wireless Network Adapter to the local area connection (Xbox) which never gets past the Network to Internet phase on the test.
Setting up a VPN in Control Panel using the server address and username and password and then connecting and sharing that connection with the local area connection, which comes with the same result as the previous test.
I tried one more thing, I set up a virtual router using command prompt and shared the connection so it was working with the Xbox normally WITHOUT the VPN on, (using VPN like CyberGhost again) but once I turn the VPN on it turns out as the same result as the other tests.
I also tried changing the DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and that did not work either.

So what else is left to try? At this point, it's not even that I NEED to mask my IP as much as I just want to figure this out. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

A good question is why do you want a vpn on your xbox?

Did you try turning the VPN on before sharing the connection?

When I do that, it says some settings will not be updated because the connection is active, if you're talking about the VPN connection itself and not just like the CyberGhost application. But yes, I did try that and literally same exact result.

You need to share your VPN adapter connection with your ethernet adapter

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Then make sure that your ethernet adapter is set to automatic for IPv4 so once you start your vpn it will change it to manual and then on your xbox just leave it set to automatic.

All you have to do is run a regular ethernet cable not a cross over cable from your xbox to your pc and that's all you need to do. You can also use [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Which is a great tool for a virtual router setup.
