Need an idea of a first car, I've just turned 17 and wanting to get a car, not a really expensive one. I need some decent ideas of what to get.
Thanks

1.4 MK4 Golf is pretty reasonable on insurance and can be picked up rather cheap.
Head on to Gumtree and AutoTrader and find something that you can afford and don't mind the look of, Take the reg down and get a couple quotes on Confused.com. You may have to edit a few details when it comes to age but it will give you an idea on insurance prices

I don't know how it is there, but in the US if your under 18 you have to be on your parents insurance policy, you cannot have your own until you've reached that legal age of 18

You can hold your own policy here at the tender age of 17.

If you have your full licence you can hold a policy on your own. Obviously if you have a provisional mummy and daddy may need to step in and lend a helping hand.
