Types of Jtags
There are a total of 6 types of motherboard that have been used on the Xbox 360 console by the Microsoft Corporation. The easiest way to tell the difference between Xbox 360 motherboards is to look at the amperage and voltage rating of the unit which is displayed by the chip on the motherboard of the Xbox 360. This number along with whether or not the unit as an HDMI cable will inform you as to which type of Xbox 360 motherboard is installed on your gaming console.

Basically "JTAG Types" come from the motherboards of the console. The motherboards are what have the actual "names" you could say. All JTAGS do the same thing...run unsigned code, so its not a matter of "what JTAG does more". Its more of a which motherboard is built better/ more durable (made to last).

Quality of the motherboards after being JTAGGED
Xenon:

The Xenon motherboard was the first one used on the Xbox 360 at the time of launch Produced in 2005. It used a 16.5 amp, 203 watt power supply but had significant overheating and Red Ring of Death issues. The Xenon model also does not come with a HDMI connector in order to provide a higher-quality video output for game play.

This is the most common motherboard people like to JTAG. The reason to that being it is quick and easy. Like i said before the Xenon was one of the first motherboards to get the JTAG hack put on it. So it is rather old.

This does not mean a xenon is a bad motherboard to JTAG. If it was so bad then it would not be as common as it is. People like xenon JTAGS because they are easy to use.

Good Thing's about Xenon's: Takes both types of KV's, Easy to fix, Easy to JTAG, And Very cheap.

Bad Thing's about Xenon's: Common to RROD, No HDMI, Oldest generation of motherboards, and 55% fail rate.

Zephry:

Zephry is the second motherboard to be used on the Xbox 360 was the Zephyr Produced in 2005. It has the same power ratings as the Xenon when you look at the power ratings of the unit, however, it has an HDMI connection. The Zephyr has similar overheating issues as the Xenon motherboard even though it incorporates an extra GPU cooler not found on the Xenon.

This is a good JTAG just not the best.

Good Thing's about Zephry's: Lower RROD rate then Xenon's, Easy to work with, and has HDMI.

Bad Thing's about Zephry's: Takes type 2 KV's only, Lots of weak flashes resulting in console error's, Old motherboard, and 30% fail rate.

Opus:

The Opus motherboard was only used by Microsoft when replacing Xenon motherboards that have failed Produced in 2007. It has a 175 watt power and 14.2 amp power rating. There is no HDMI output on the mother board and it has a 65 nm CPU.

This is the very rare motherboard with the JTAG hack. I do not recommend anyone who is new to JTAGGING to get this JTAG!

A good JTAG, but to rare. If you want a challenge get an Opus.

Good Thing's about Opus's: Less fail rate, RROD is rare, and newer motherboard (07)

Bad Thing's about Opus's: Very rare so not much information about them, Hard to use and understand, No HDMI, and Only takes type 2 KV's

Falcon:

The Falcon motherboard represented the first major redesign of the Xbox 360 motherboard by Microsoft Produced in 2007. The motherboard is rated at 175 watts, 12 V, and 14.2 amps and has a 65 nm CPU. The Falcon was first included with the Xbox 360 in late 2007 and has a larger CPU cooler as well as an HDMI connection.

The Falcon is a common JTAGGED motherboard. This is a newer motherboard, so its more durable.

I recommend spending the extra money on this JTAG. It barley has any malfunctions. (Unless caused by owner)

Good Thing's about Falcon's: RROD is really rare, Newer motherboard (07), has HDMI, and only 11% fail rate

Bad Thing's about Falcon's: Harder to fix when they get an error, Only take type 2 KV's

Jasper:

The Jasper motherboard was first released in the later portions of 2008. The easiest way to determine if your Xbox 360 has this motherboard installed is to look at the chip to see if it is a 150 watt/12.1 Amp and 12 Volt power supply on the rating of the unit. It also has a 65 nm GPU and 256 MB of internal flash memory.

A Jasper is without the best Motherboard to do the JTAG hack to. It is the newest motherboard with the JTAG hack and the last one to get the hack. RROD is practically unknown to this console.

I would not get this JTAG if your just going to host lobbies. This JTAG is more for modders who want to run homebrew programs on them and do offline modding, Also good for online lobbies but no point to spend all this money if your just doing COD mods

Good Thing's about Jasper's: Newest motherboard that can be JTAGGED produced in (08), RROD is VERY VERY rare, has HDMI

Bad Thing's about Jasper's: Only take type 2 KV's, And are really expensive.

Basically all Xbox360 motherboards are subject to RROD so i would look into getting fan modifications done to your JTAG to help it last.
