I'm currently in the process of building a new computer. I only need to buy the CPU and OS. I was wondering if there's any Powerful but cheap CPU's I can find on the web?

The motherboard you purchased will only work with a set number of CPU's. Can you post your motherboard make and model so I can google it and recommend the best CPU that will be compatible with it?

Motherboard: MSI z97 gaming 7.

The i7 is ever so slightly above your budget, but if you can sacrifice that little bit extra, you will have higher performance, especially in threaded tasks. Here is a baseline performance comparison between the 2: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
