I don't get some countries sometimes,
Like here in Australia it's rare you hear about gun shootings and shit.. Now I'm not trying to say that us "aussies" are perfect. We have our fair share of crimes and such as well.
Although I personally believe that you's (Murica) just take some things too far. No one needs a gun, hell half the police force shouldn't even have a gun.

Now I know I didn't really make a point.. but what I am trying to say is that I believe you're wrong. Laws here in Australia are strict, and across our whole country not just one city, Guns and such on the news is rare.. Either way whether Guns are legalised or not in Chicago it is not going to make a difference.. If anything "I Personally" believe that legalizing guns will just make your problems worst.

America has notorious gang problems.

Gun legalization is just a small part of how they have such a large effect on the country's crime rates.
The main thing which America should be focusing on is drugs. Drugs are where these gangs get their revenue, it's how they expand and buy weapons.
The weapons they buy are used to kill mainly other gang members, most of the violent gun crime in the US is between gangs, rather than between gangs and innocent civilians.
If America legalized and regulated the drugs used by gangs to create an income they would not be able to function and would decrease massively. By proxy, the violent crime rate would also decrease massively.

I've never heard 'crime stop' and 'allow guns' in the same sentence...

You've got it backwards. The laws being so strict is what causes the shoot-outs.
More people having guns in an area lowers the amount of violent crimes.
If guns are illegal only criminals will have them, they get them from black markets.
It stops law abiding citizens from being able to protect themselves.

But citizens shouldn't have to protect themselves if guns where hard to get hold off.

Evidently guns are not hard to get hold of despite strict gun laws.
You're forgetting that the US has huge border with a country pretty much run by gangs.
Drugs and guns are the main unlawful export from that country into the US and those guns go straight to places where they are illegal so that gangs can arm themselves.

Masove wrote I heard they call Chicago, Chiraq as in Iraq, if so then thats crazy bud, sorry to hear you live in a tough area.

Its always a sensitive issue discussing gun laws and if they should be changed or not.

However for your sake and many others, I hope the crime rate decreases there, with or without gun laws

Chiraq?
That's pretty interesting...

You do realize that guns can be obtained illegally, right?

Let's make it easier by legalizing them then...

People's logic with how guns help always winds me up. I'm out of here before someone else says some more stupid shit.

People's logic with how guns help, you mean like... statistics?

Every year in America guns are used 80x more often for self-defence than for homicide or assault combined.
3/5 polled felons say they won't assault an armed victim.
America has the highest gun ownership rate per 100,000 people, but is 103rd on the list of countries with the highest homicide rates.
America's homicide rate is at 4.8 per 100,000 people while Honduras is at 91.6.
Every mass shooting in the US, bar one, since 1950 has taken place in an area in which guns are banned.
Civilians in the US shoot dead 1,527 criminals every year compared to the Police shooting dead just 606 criminals every year. Civilians have a 2% error rate when using their guns to stop a crime in progress, while the police have an 11% error rate.
