Because lawmakers and people who elect them don't (and/or don't WANT to) understand the issue.

Concealed carry permit holders commit orders of magnitude less crime than other citizens.

What this means is that people who legally carry handguns (other types guns are very rarely used in crime), who are the real target of anti-gun laws, are not the problem and in fact help fix the problem. Not to mention that the law is unconstitutional, but that doesn't matter anymore, right?

I don't see what adding more guns to the mix would do in terms of decreasing crime rates. It doesn't really make sense if you think about it. Yay we have more guns, now we can all kill each other.

Anyways, the way I see it, especially in places like Chicago is that its not necessarily a war on guns/crime, its a war on drug trafficking/gang activity. Get rid of the drugs, there will be less crime.

Adding more guns to the mix will not solve anything and if you think it will then your not very smart.

Here in Germany it's almost impossible to get a gun, we have such strict laws.

It's not 'Yay now we can all kill each other' it's 'I'm not going to commit a crime against that person because they might have a gun and they might shoot me.'

That doesn't make it sound any better. Criminals can then get more guns if they are legalized.

Long story short, the citizens need firearms to keep themselves safe.

What do you mean "the mix?" Felons lose civil rights including the right to own a gun. Allowing concealed carry only affects people who follow the laws. Criminals by definition don't follow the law.

You obviously don't understand.

Situation A: Law abiding citizens do not have guns, criminals do.
Law abiding citizen A: That's a nice tree
Law abiding citizen B: No that's a stupid tree
Criminal with gun: Give me all of your money
Law abiding citizen A: Oh no, If only I had a gun to defend myself, here is all of my money.

Situation B: Law abiding citizens have guns and so do criminals.
Law abiding citizen A: That's a nice tree
Law abiding citizen B: No, that's a stupid tree
Criminal with gun: Either of those law abiding citizens might have a gun, so I'll not mug them today.
Law abiding citizen A: Let's go home.

Situation C: [What Axe is proposing will happen.]
Law abiding citizen A: -Shoots law abiding citizen B-
Criminal: -Shoots law abiding citizen A-
Police: -Shoots criminal-
Police: This is anarchy, everyone is shooting everyone for no reason!

Now which situation has the best outcome?

They run background checks on people looking to buy guns, or applying for a concealed carry license. Criminals will be able to get just as many guns as they always have, but everyone having a gun is a huge crime deterrent.

Proof? Kenesaw, Georgia passed a law stating that there must be at least one gun in every house.
Burglary rates dropped 89%, and Kenesaw's overall crime rate is 85% lower than Georgia's as a whole.

Much rebuttal:

When I am 18 I can legally buy a gun and open carry it without a permit here, not many crimes surprisingly.

I'm sorry but you realize that sounds so dumb criminals can then get more guns if legalized seriously most criminals aren't going to own a gun legaly because they have felonies down here in Texas we don't have nearly as many shootings as say Chicago Cali Detroit and we have probably the least strict gun laws
