I failed first time and passed second. Im not to sure if the actual test differs in the UK/USA (Im assuming your from one or the other) but here in South Africa, the key is usually to ACE your yard test (Parallel parking, 3 point turn, alley docking and so on) once you get that part out the way and onto the actual road, then its usually much easier from there IMO. The key is to stay calm, as hard as it may be for some and also when taking your test, do it in your driving schools car instead of your own, some driving instructors see that as a sign of being overly confident, something they hate.

If you're in the UK, make sure you're permanently checking your mirrors etc and it's quite hard to fail without making a big mistake.

It is incredibly easy in my opinion. I passed it on my first try with a few minor errors at the end that happened from a mistake I made while changing lanes. The best tips I can give you are review your car's buttons, review the left, right, and slow down hand signals, drive around the DMV you will take your test at for around an hour or two, and just relax the day before. The biggest tip I can give you is make sure to look out for signs. From what I have heard from friends who have failed, they made a right turn on a red light where there was a sign saying not to turn right on a red light. This could be standard for all driving test to make sure that new drivers are aware of their surroundings.

In the UK, it's much harder in my opinion compared to the US (NO I'm not trying to cause an argument).

It took me 3 attempts to pass my test and I nearly failed on the third attempt because of a pidgeon. They will look at EVERYTHING you have been taught so make sure you do everything and make it extremely obvious.

Took me 20 hours of driving experience to pass

In the US if you have common sense you will be fine.

UK, first time, 10 hours of lessons.
like said, they monitor everything, you have to check mirrors at least once every 5 seconds and they may ask you what the colour of the car behind is to make sure you are checking.

Not hard to pass your drivers test as long as you took the class required to get your driving permit. It's very easy in the US as long as you do everything they taught you in the class, and practice before.

I passed on the first time but that's because I'm a highly skilled motorist, but not sure how long you people in other countries have to drive for but here in Australia you have to drive for a minimum of 1 year and have over 120 hours on road experience. most people here pass their first time because they have so much experience and personally i think every country should require people to drive for that long before they are allowed to go for their driving test.
