Based on what you said your going to be using it for, you should get a pc, really that only reason i can think of for you to get a console is if all you are going to be playing is COD or some other console exclusive.

I beleive that a $500 computer will be fine for those games, you might want to pm Sanctorum and ask for him to make you a build... Sanctorum
And include:
What is your budget and currency? (Pound sign does not work normally, use GBP abbreviation)
Do you need a monitor?
Do you need a keyboard?
Do you need a mouse?
Do you need an operating system?
What will you use the PC for?
