So I work as a security guard on nightshift we normally work 12 hour shifts I was asked to cover a colleague as he is off then to be told the next day after I agreed to do the hours it had changed to 14 hour shifts. In total it's 9 days straight. So I start at 5pm and Finish at 7am everyday. I had asked to book a holiday for one of them days I was told it OK and it was getting covered by my manager 2 days later he rings me and tells me I have to work it. Is there anything that can be done about this? Thanks

Yeah there is something that can be done about the problem. It's called working the hours and quit crying. Not sure about how much security guards make where you live and who you work for, but 2 hours = MORE MONEY IN YOUR POCKET!

£6.50 an hour. After a nightshift you need 11 hours of uninterrupted rest. We only get 9 hours. It's to the point where your sleeping and going straight to work. If we got paid a better wage it would be a different story.

Sounds like you're making a lot of overtime lol.
As far as the break goes, yeah, you could take it anyway. It depends on if you like your job or not. He might decide to fire you. There are more people behind you looking for that job.
