Basically a tubrocharger is a turbine driven device that when an engines exhaust gasses enter it, it increases efficiency and causes a greater power output as it forces air into the combustion chamber.

A supercharger increases the pressure of the fuel and air mix in the combustion chamber. This increases efficiency too.

To answer the question, when people say 'My car has a turbo' it refers to the turbocharger modification on their car.

Hope I was correct with that

I'll put it this way. The supercharger will take its power from the crankshaft and the turbocharger will draw power from exhaust gases that result from combustion.

Pretty much they both do the same thing, they increase PSI. They just do it in different ways. In a supercharger, there is a belt that connects directly to the engine. It gets its power the same way that the water pump, alternator, A/C, etc. does. Engine spins, which spins the belt, which will make the supercharger do it's thing and gain PSI. A turbocharger gets its power from the exhaust stream. The exhaust runs through a turbine, which spins the compressor gaining PSI. Basically it's weather you want your boost coming from a belt, or exhaust.

And with turbos you get lag, and I'm pretty sure you don't get any lag with superchargers.

Turbo = ricer
Supercharger = tuner

Unless of course they came stock. You can't call a stock turbo diesel truck a ricer lol. Generally people who add turbo's a ricers and on a budget. People who use superchargers just don't give a hoot.

So according to your logic a GNX is a ricer....rightttt

It seems we can't use a turbo or a supercharger without being called a name by you...
