hey guys, just saw the release of the new line of intel cpus on the Z710 chipset, and was wondering now which chipset is the best for the price, bang for the buck, however you want to look at it, Z710, X99, or Z97?

X99 is still expensive + DDR4 is still expensive
Z110 is expensive as new and has DDR4
Socket 1150 is still best bang for buck at the moment until DDR4 comes down a lot.

X99 is the best out of these options. A 6 core i7 is cheaper then the new Skylake chip. So for that reason alone X99 gets my vote. But it depends what you do and how much $$$ you got.

Z97 is still a great platform and I will not be changing from it any time soon.

Well since skylake just launched prices will also be steep.

Wait a bit it'll slowly get back to normal but as Craig said you could grab a 5820k.

depends on what you're doing and if you need the extra cores and PCI lanes.
if not then Z97 is more than enough.

gaming at 1080p, video editing, and live streaming, so i should benefit from the extra 2 cores using x99, no?

A H97 board and a E3-1231 V3 will suit your needs easily...

That's not true. It depends entirely on the user. The 6700k will out-perform a 5820k in gaming, and the 6700k really helps bring up minimum FPS, so less random frame drops and what not. The 3DMark Physics score for the 6700k comes half way between a 4770k and 5930k. X99 motherboards are also more expensive than Z170 boards.

If you've got the money for Z170, or X99, there's no reason not to.

If you look at benchmarks yes, Skylake is probably better.

But in my eyes getting 2 extra cores and 4 extra threads for less is a no brainer. Until Skylake comes down in price by a fair bit, i aint gunna recommend it to anyone over X99 lol.

I mean who doesn't want 12 threads?
