Why not Windows 10? I've heard some good things about it.

Neither, go Windows 10. I used Windows 7 for a long time and found Windows 8.1 to be better however I now find Windows 10 better than both.

Why not get Window's 10, it is like Windows 7 and Windows 8 combined.

Windows 10 is only free for Win 7, 8 and 8.1 users.

It's not just a free software...

As everyone's said, windows 10 is probably the best option. But to your question, I always preferred windows 7.
