Hey guys so I'm wondering if it is possible to spray paint this desk Black. I've had it for about a year now and the color of it just makes my Black and Blue gaming setup look weird. I am not sure if spray painting this kind of material would be possible.

I guess, make sure to apply multiple layers and use clear coat afterwards to stop the paint from being easily scratched "D

Yeah just use the correct paint, probably a wood paint. Also as said above, once the paint is dry go over it with a preserver.

Is it solid wood or a veneer overlay? You are going to want to sand the current top coat off, scuff it up with like 80 grit sand paper, lay down a good base of self etching primer then spray paint. Make sure you look into the chemicals to make sure your mid coat (paint) will react good with your base coat (primer) and top coat (lacquer, clear coat, what ever you use).
When you spray it, it will show the wood grain so you will have a weird cheap looking desk. The easiest and best looking way to go is to buy some black laminate and stick it on there. I prefer the stuff you glue on but you can get peel and stick. It's pretty cheap and will give you a better finish. When you cut it make sure to look at the direction your scissor blades are cutting if that makes sense. The one that cuts down, you pull the laminate down on that side so it does not crack. Then you just come back with a file and it will look like it was made that way.

Thank you so much for the help, I am pretty sure it is some type of laminate on some material that i do not know.

Just read the post lol, it is laminate. Laminate is usually 1/8" thick or less. If you want to spray paint it you would have to take the laminate off (either sand it off or try and use a hair dryer to pull it off) to not have a black wood look. It is probably MDF (glued sawdust) under there though, so I don't think this would be a good idea. I would either spray paint over the laminate and deal with a black wood look, or put laminate over the laminate.
Are you still in school / does your school have a wood shop? When I was in wood shop we would do things like this a lot for people.
