Sorry if this is the wrong place to post it!

So i am thinking about buying a wireless repeater that i can use to connect a ethernet cable to my xbox one to help the games download fairly faster because my console is upstairs which is no where near my router and i have seen a few comments on review videos tell people not to plug them into power strips i dont know if this means it could cause a house fire or it will result in a small loss of connection can someone help me?

Yeah using every outlet on a power strip does seem to increases chances of house fires.

You must plug in the repeater to an outlet, not an extension cord, power strip, surge protector, etc.
