Currently using an offbrand motherboard and an amd processor with windows 7 home premium OEM, i still have the product key.
i purchased an asrock fatal1ty h97 and an i5-4690k
what all do i need to do to my hard drive, some people tell me i have to wipe my hard drive and some people tell me i dont.
what i want to know is, after i install the new motherboard and processor, from first boot, what do i have to do with my hard drive? can i still use my windows oem key to load windows or will i need a new key?

Use sysprep to hardware-generalize the installation.
1. Press Win+R, type "sysprep", press enter
2. Run the sysprep application in the folder that opens
3. Use these options
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
4. Once sysprep has finished and shuts down, change the board and CPU. When you turn the PC on again, it will initialize the new hardware.
5. OEM Windows keys are bound to the motherboard when used. You will need to activate the OS again after changing the board.

thank you soooo much! so then when i boot up the pc with the new motherboard in it, what do i have to do? will i have to boot off of the windows 7 cd, and then activate windows?
and can i still use my OEM key?

The OEM key will not be valid because it has been used. You can buy a new key or talk to customer support. You won't need a disk for anything.

if i call customer support will i still have to purchase another key? or is there a way they can give me one?

I have windows 7 home premium 64 bit OEM, i did the free upgrade to windows 10, would i be able to do it this way?
Some people reported of switching a hdd with windows 10 from an amd mobo and cpu to an intel mobo and cpu and having no issues. just plug, boot, and viola?

No guarantees you won't have software compatibility problems.
