This is the shit that pisses me off. You'll see shit all over social media and the news about how a police officer is shooting at someone or beating them up, but when something happens to an innocent officer that's not even on duty, none of those big social media accounts will say anything about it or spread awareness about it and neither will the popular news channels. Social Media and news networks are so 2 faced it's not even funny.

100% agree. People don't realise how bad it would be if there were no law, and often take police for granted. I hate when a video is shared on social media of 'police brutality' but nothing is ever shared of a police officer doing good. All these fools who are constantly protesting against the police need to realise who they call first if they were in trouble. Back to police brutality, to judge the police on a small percentage of wrong doings is fallacious. Yes some police officers do use excessive force and do kill innocent people. However this is such a minority in comparison to those doing there job perfectly. The army for example, it is known that thousands of civilians have been killed as a result of bombings in various countries such as Vietnam, Iraq, Israel etc. Although not once do you see in the news or on social media '___ Army kills 300 innocent people during bomb raid'.

If you want to look more into the power of Mass Media and theories of communication.
Check out:
Maslow's hierarchy of needs
Cultivation Theory
Two-Step Flow theory
and the uses and gratifications theory
I've studied media for about 4 years now and it kind of changes your perspective on EVERYTHING you read and watch.
Enjoy
