Not to flame but maybe they are testing on monkeys this time and the rebirth lab is where testing is going on. And you are somehow in the rebirth lab and you have to kill the mutated monkeys.

ok, well I hacked the achievements for Blackops - using a GPD i downloaded from the XboxMB Diamond download section - anyway, I got some of the achievements(not all) to make it look realistic, and this was one of them:

I am suggesting that those "creatures" are zombie monkeys
I thought of this as in world at war, they introduced zombie dogs, because of the fact it was one of the most used/seen animals in world at war, also in the preview video they were walking on all fours, looked part human and also look like monkeys.
