I contacted them but they didn't mention anything about me getting a free controller.
Update: I got the controller. Please close this post
So this is how it works. You talk to xbox support through the chat. Just tell the person you're speaking to that you have a broken controller and what should you do about it. The person asked me for my information and said I could get a new one for free. Just keep trying to get a person who will send you one for free

You're trying to get a free controller through the Preview Program thing? Doubt that works any longer, a lot of people were abusing it.

The only way you get a free controller is if your stuff in under warranty.
