Hey guys, i have an X79 Deluxe and a GTX 780TI Classified and would like to overclock them both but im stumped. i would like my CPU to be at 4.2 to 4.5GHz but ive tried everything. Ive watched over 3 hours of tutorials and guides and nothing. My CPU just wont overclock. I adjust the setting perfectly but when i boot my computer on after applying all the overclock settings specific to my machine it still says its at 3.40GH, and when i go back in the BIOs to check, everythings the same, all my settings saved my it wont apply for some reason. Nothing helps. Ive seen over 10 guides on how to do it and nothing. And for my GPU? **** i dont understand that shit. I have MSI Afterburner and Precision X, and have seen guides but i dont understand how any of that works lol. If anyone could help i would be so happy.

If you've been going back into your BIOS and your seeing that the settings you've chosen are indeed sticking, then it has to be something with your operating system or software installed. If you have overclocking software installed (specifically for the CPU, its okay to have something installed for the GPU) and its settings are different that will be interfering with your settings from the BIOS. Check your installed programs list and be sure there's nothing there.

Edit: also make sure your power profile in control panel is set to high performance.

It is set to high performance, and nothing is opposing the overclock i dont believe

GPU overclocking is pretty much the same process as CPU overclocking, not that complicated at all. I suggest watching this video:

Why? If you read everything i said that i want to get my CPU to 4.2 to 4.5, i config it all in the bios but when i open CPU Z it says its still 3.4 and i dont know why. I did everything correctly

Check in your BIOS that you have manually disabled Intel Turbo Boost Technology, EIST (enhanced intel speedstep technology), execute disable bit, and also disable any and all C state values. While your in CPUz are any of your numbers fluctuating at all? Voltages, frequencies, etc. If those are fluctuating more than just a couple of MHz every now and then, then there is likely something not properly set in the BIOS.

No everything is fine, and i thought i was suppose to enable the Turbo and EIST? Thats what i was told. And i dont know what the C value thing your talking about is

No if you are overclocking you do not want any of that stuff enabled. C states are different power saving states that your processor goes into, if you are overclocking then these are counterproductive, and obviously power savings is not a concern whatsoever.
