If you have an nVidia graphics card I would take advantage of that and download GeForce Experience, it has a built-in recorder called Shadowplay with multiple settings. It's made by nVidia to ensure there is no frame-rate drops with the best quality. If you don't I reccomend OBS, but look up some settings. The default settings on OBS are bad quality.

Edit: If you need me to set OBS up for you PM me. I use Shadowplay but I used to use OBS so I know what I am doing.

Personally I used Dxtory it was good and with the right codec you only lose about 5 frames!

I personally reccomend camtasia, it's easy to pirate and super good quality, also very simple to use.

Fraps is good, but this tool is not free. I often use [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] that allows me to record screen without any costs. It provides many output formats for recording including MP4, AVI, and so on. It works nicely on my computer, hope it is helpful to you as well.
